HE DID IT FOR US
“And so Pilate, willing to content the people,
released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to
be crucified. And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns,
and put it about his head, And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!”
Mark 15: 15, 17, 18
King James Version
Pilate was more concerned with what the people would say than in
releasing Jesus and he knew that Jesus was innocent. We do the same thing
today. We are more concerned with what people will think or say than we are in
what Jesus will think or say. Many times we see injustices done to elderly
people and to children but we don’t want to get involved. We’re afraid to step
out of our comfort zone because someone might get upset with us.
Sometimes we refuse to speak up when we know an older person, an invalid
or a child is being abused and mistreated. May God forgive us! Sin is sin and
it is time that we stop burying our heads in the sand and acknowledge that we
also sin by our rotten attitudes, unforgiving ways and harsh and critical words
and actions.
Out of His amazing Love for us, Jesus allowed Himself to be crucified.
They scourged Him until He couldn’t be recognized. They didn’t just prick Him
with one thorn; they platted a crown of thorns and put it about His entire
head. Then they mocked and ridiculed our Saviour. They even spit on Him. He
took on Him our sins and paid the penalty so that we might be saved. He
suffered all of that pain and agony for us. Yet, instead of showing gratitude
to Him, many times we hurt Him by our actions and words to one another. O that
we would fall in love with Jesus and make Him happy!
