THE GREATEST LOVE
“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because
that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through
him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his
Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
1 John 4: 9, 10
King James Version
I have the best family in the world. I love them dearly and they love me and
prove it by their actions. Yet, their love for me and my love for them is
nothing compared to the Love that God gives us. This is the greatest Love that
we will ever know.
When I woke up this morning, I was filled with gratitude that I don’t have to go
outside to go to the bathroom like they used to do. I looked around my home and
saw all the comforts that God has given me. I have a bed to sleep on, dishes to
eat on, clothes to wear, food to eat, water to drink, a bathtub, towels and
washrags, shoes for my feet, and a healthy body except for arthritis.
We take so many things for granted. I am so thankful for all that He has done
for me. I didn’t deserve any of them. None of us are worthy of good things; it
is only through the atoning blood of Jesus that we stand before Him spotless.
God sees us through the heart of Jesus. He doesn’t see our failures, mistakes
and sins. He sees the redemptive blood of Jesus that has been applied to our
hearts.
To be loved by your spouse, your children, parents, siblings, loved ones and
friends is wonderful, but to be Loved by the Saviour of the world is a joy that
is impossible to put into words. Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords
Loves us. He Loves us and has proved it by His actions. The question we need to
ask ourselves is “Do I love Him”?
