WEARY AND DISCOURAGED
“And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that
Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’
hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat
thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the
other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the
sun.”
Exodus 17: 11, 12
King James Version
There are times when we get weary and discouraged and feel like nobody is there
for us. It is the same with Jesus. I think sometimes He feels like no one cares
because many times we ignore Him most of the day only fitting Him in when we
have a few free minutes in our daily schedule.
He also gets weary and discouraged because of the way that He is treated on a
daily basis. Just as Aaron and Hur held up Moses’ hands, we need to hold up
Jesus’ hands through our service to Him. For years, Jesus has been spreading His
love and all too often, it is thrown back in His face.
His heart must be very heavy when He sees how we treat one another. How it must
discourage and break His heart for Him to forgive us over and over again, yet we
are not willing to forgive each other. He walked that long and lonely road to
Calvary to be crucified for us. Yet, often we are not willing to drive across
town to visit someone who desperately needs encouragement.
How long are we going to abuse and neglect Him? All He asks of us is to love Him
and to love one another. I don’t think that is too much to ask considering all
that He has done and is doing for us every day. Have you given Him your time,
talents and heart? Does He have first place in your heart?
